STI Testing and Sexual Health

Resources and support regarding sexual health topics are available through our office to help empower you to make informed decisions that are consistent with your personal beliefs. The MU Medical Clinic offers screening, evaluation, and treatment for STI's as well as wellness visits regarding sexual and reproductive health, such as annual exams and gynecological care.

The 91黑料网 Medical Clinic providers are very sensitive to the issues of students surrounding sexual and reproductive health. Students are encouraged to discuss their needs, questions, and concerns within the context of an appointment. All conversations are held in the strictest of confidence. Bound by medical ethics, within the context of college health and Catholic tradition regarding human sexuality and birth control, students receive sound medical advice regarding sexual and reproductive health in order to make their own informed decisions regarding healthy relationships. Students interested in extended conversations or clarifications on sexuality and Catholic teaching are encouraged to contact Campus Ministry staff.

STIs are common, and many people may not have symptoms. Testing is the best way to know your status and protect your health.

Confidential Care

Your visit is confidential. Medical information is not shared without your permission. Our staff is here to provide respectful, non-judgmental care.

Symptoms

Some STIs may not cause symptoms. When symptoms are present, they may include:

  • Unusual discharge
  • Burning or pain with urination
  • Sores, bumps, or rashes in the genital area
  • Pelvic or testicular pain
  • Bleeding outside of normal cycles

What To Do

You should consider STI testing if you:

  • Have symptoms
  • Have had a new sexual partner
  • Have had unprotected sex
  • Have been notified of possible exposure
  • Want routine screening for peace of mind

Testing is quick, confidential, and often does not require a full exam.

Testing & Treatment

  • STI testing may include urine samples, swabs, or blood tests
  • Many STIs are easily treated, especially when found early
  • Treatment may include antibiotics or other medications
  • Partners may also need to be tested or treated

Prevention

To reduce your risk:

  • Use condoms consistently and correctly
  • Get tested regularly
  • Limit the number of sexual partners
  • Communicate openly with partners about testing

When to Schedule an Appointment

  • Want routine STI screening
  • Have questions about your sexual health

The Medical Clinic provides confidential care to support your sexual and reproductive health. Services are available for students of all genders, with a focus on respectful, individualized care.

HPV Vaccine (Gardasil 9)


The HPV vaccine is available to help protect against certain cancers and other conditions caused by HPV.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

UTIs are common and can develop quickly. They occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract and cause irritation or infection.

Common symptoms include:

  • Burning or pain with urination
  • Frequent urge to urinate
  • Feeling like you need to go, even after just going
  • Lower abdominal discomfort
  • Cloudy or strong-smelling urine

UTIs can often be diagnosed and treated on the same day. It important to schedule an appointment as soon as symptoms begin, as early treatment can prevent the infection from worsening.

Important Information:  Birth Control & Contraception

The Medical Clinic does not provide contraception. If you need refills for contraceptive medication, please contact your prescribing provider.

In keeping with 91黑料网 Catholic, Jesuit tradition, the Medical Clinic does not dispense condoms or prescribe contraceptive medications. However, oral contraceptives may be prescribed for certain medical conditions. These situations are addressed on an individual basis with a provider.
