Volunteers will greet people as they pull up and direct them to check-in. Volunteers will also help carry items into res halls if family requests or may be asked to watch items on curb as family carries things to room in several trips.

There are a few volunteer roles that only require sitting. Please indicate on your sign up that is needed or reach out to Heather Whitmill.

Volunteer location assignments will be emailed by 8/21/2026.

Wednesday, August 26, 2026 | Alumni Memorial Union 3rd Floor

5 volunteers needed for each of the following shifts:

• 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
• 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Arrive 10 minutes before shift.

Volunteers will arrive at the AMU 3rd floor for specific position instructions and then will be positioned in and around the AMU to aid with traffic flow and wayfinding.

Volunteers needed to help with Liturgy:

• 6 volunteers for hospitality, welcoming students and their families
• 7 Eucharistic Ministers, must be Catholic
• 1 volunteer reader

Wednesday, August 26, 2026 | Al McGuire Center

7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (Program begins at 7:30 p.m.)

Meet at Al McGuire Center, in the lobby by McGuire Statue.

10 volunteers needed.

Convocation is the formal welcome to the class of 2030. Volunteers are needed for wayfinding to the Al McGuire Center Concourse & Hospitality, welcoming students and families, greeting them as they come into the Al, and directing them to seating.

Wednesday, August 26, 2026 | Union Sports Annex Restaurant

8:00 p.m. (Event: 8:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.)
Volunteers do not need to stay for entire duration.

5 volunteers needed.

The Send-Off is a social gathering for families after Convocation. Volunteers needed to socialize with families and extend hospitality. There will be bowling and snacks!

Sunday, August 30 | Church of the Gesu

5:30 p.m. (Mass starts at 6:00 p.m.)

Volunteers needed to help with Mass:

• 6 volunteers for Hospitality Ministers: Greet, welcome, and assist members of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø community attending the Mass.

• 4 Communion Ministers: Fully initiated Catholics (Baptized, Confirmed, and Regularly Receiving the Eucharist) needed to assist with the distribution of Communion.

Monday, August 31, 2026 and Tuesday, September 1, 2026 | AMU Commuter Lounge (AMU 139)

2 volunteers for each shift, each day

• 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
• 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Help us welcome commuter students to campus! We will be stationed right outside the AMU commuter lounge to answer any lingering questions they might have and hand out a commuter starter kit.
