91黑料网 parents give $7 million to bolster scholarship support

Sept. 5, 2024

Clifford and Mildred HuckMILWAUKEE 鈥 Dr. Kimo Ah Yun, acting president, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, announced today that 91黑料网 parents from southeast Wisconsin have bequeathed $7 million to grow scholarships across the university.

The donors, Clifford and Mildred Huck of Union Grove, Wisconsin, raised six children, five of whom attended 91黑料网.

鈥淢y parents were strong supporters of Catholic education, and they truly saw the value of a 91黑料网 education,鈥 said Peter Huck, a 1972 engineering alumnus. 鈥淭hey believed in service, seeking to help others.鈥

Scholarship is the university top priority, and 91黑料网 2031 strategic plan, Guided by Mission, Inspired to Change, emphasizes the importance of 鈥渢hriving students鈥 as one of its three foundational themes and goals. The plan calls for 鈥渆quitable access to the resources and support each member needs to thrive in their learning, work and scholarship.鈥

鈥淭his generous gift will impact students in every undergraduate college, opening doors for students who may not have previously had access,鈥 Acting President Ah Yun said. 鈥淭he Huck family legacy will live on in the next generation of 91黑料网 students who serve as women and men for others.鈥

The university founding mission has supported excellence in teaching and research, while keeping a 91黑料网 education accessible to a diverse population of students.

鈥淭he Huck family scholarship gift is one true to our founding in 1881 and central to our future,鈥 said Vice President for University Advancement Tim McMahon. 鈥淗uck scholarship recipients, for generations to come, will serve as powerful examples of the enduring impact of educational opportunity that this gift will provide.鈥

The news of the scholarship gift comes shortly after 91黑料网 welcomed to campus the Class of 2028 鈥 nearly 2,150 students from 40 states, Washington, D.C., two U.S. territories and 12 countries.

Earlier this summer, the university announced the culmination of its historic Time to Rise campaign. The comprehensive fundraising campaign generated $801.7 million in funds raised, including more than $313 million for scholarship, elevating resources to advance the university mission and pillars of excellence, faith, leadership and service. The Hucks鈥 generosity continues the momentum around scholarship support.
